Keto Hot Chia Cereal

9 ratings

Our Keto cereal recipe contains only a few ingredients: chia seeds, unsweetened almond milk, vanilla extract, and some sweetener. The entire recipe is super easy to make as it is cooked in one saucepan. The recipe is straightforward to scale up to a larger batch for multiple people. This cereal is best eaten the day it is made. However, you can refrigerate any leftovers and eat as a cold chia pudding. Our Keto hot cereal is topped with frozen berries for a temperature contrast and cold heavy cream for extra fat. You will love this Keto-friendly cereal!

What if I am dairy-free?

If you are dairy-free, please use heavy coconut milk such as the kind that comes from a can.

What other toppings can I add?

Feel free to add additional toppings, like sugar-free dark chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or other low carb fruits like strawberries, plums, or even cherries. Another fun topping to consider is unsweetened coconut flakes.

Can I use other low carb sweeteners?

Yes! You can use Keto-friendly maple syrup or liquid stevia instead of the granulated erythritol that we used here.

Serving suggestions

To make the ultimate pairing, serve this Keto Hot Chia Cereal with our Keto Bacon and Eggs Frittata:

  • Step 1

Combine the chia seeds, almond milk, vanilla extract, sweetener (or more to taste), and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan. Place the saucepan over a medium-high and whisk to incorporate the chia seeds as they tend to float on top of the liquid ingredients.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Cook occasionally, stirring for 3-5 minutes or until the mixture has thickened into a porridge-like consistency. Pour the hot cereal into a small bowl. Top the mixture with heavy cream and frozen mixed berries.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Sprinkle the pumpkin seeds on top and serve. Feel free to top the chia seed hot cereal with other low carb fruits and toppings like strawberries or unsweetened coconut flakes. If you like your cereal a bit sweeter, add a little extra sweetener or Keto maple syrup.

I really liked this. It's similar to tapioca or rice pudding

This is my first premium recipe and I like it! All the random Keto recipes I've found online tend to be a lot of work and then end up gross. Can anyone tell me how to edit a premium recipe? I switched out the pumpkin seeds with some no sugar milk chocolate chips.

Very good! But for me there is not enough protein. What can I had to boost the proteins?

Was really surprised by how good this tasted and how full I felt after. Did take longer to cook I think than the recommended time but looked like tapioca when cooked. Great success

Do these chia seeds open up when cooked like they do when soaked over night? I get concerned of them getting stuck in throat as it happened to me before?

Yes they in fact open up better when heated.

Could you use Greek yogurt instead of almond milk?

This was surprisingly creamy and tasted great! For the sweetener, I used what I had, which was monk fruit.
