Keto 5 Ingredient Sloppy Joes

19 ratings

Sloppy joes are a popular comfort food known for its smokey, sweet, and saucy meat filling. This Keto version tastes just as good but without all the added sugar. Serve the sloppy joe meat on your choice of low-carb buns for a nostalgic meal.

How to make this Keto 5 ingredient sloppy joes recipe?

Sloppy joes are generally quick and easy to prepare and only require a handful of ingredients. This recipe starts by cooking ground beef until browned, then stirring in sugar-free ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and powdered erythritol. You can also add onion and garlic powder to the meat for added flavor. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve inside your choice of Keto buns. This delicious dish is one of the easiest Keto 5 ingredient meals to prepare.

What type of sweetener is best for these Keto sloppy joes?

This dish is traditionally sweetened with brown sugar, which has a deeper flavor than regular white sugar. For this recipe, we are using regular powdered erythritol, but you can use brown sugar sweetener to get a richer flavor.

What buns can you serve the sloppy joe in?

You can serve this low-carb sloppy joes’ meat on any store-bought Keto buns. You can also try one of Carb Managers burger bun recipes found on the app. For a lighter version, you can serve the saucy meat inside lettuce cups.

What can you serve as a side dish?

This comfort dish is usually served with a side of French fries, corn on the cob, or coleslaw. For a Keto side-dish, serve these sloppy joes with a green salad, veggie fries, or this rich cauliflower mac and cheese: https://my.carbmanager.com/meals/recipes?dialog=food-detail:ug:6672ac04-9f8b-a776-b128-700a52b622ed

How to store leftovers?

You can store any extra sloppy joes meat in an airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. This is excellent for meal prep or busy weeknights when you need to have an instant meal. Thaw frozen sloppy joes in the fridge overnight or on the counter for a couple of hours. Then, reheat in the microwave or a saucepan on the stove.

Delicious! Created my dinner by adding one onion and red pepper, chilli powder, zero sugar ketchup, liquid smoke, and mustard. That was it. Turned out fantastic. Thanks for the recipe!

My mom was diabetic. She used McCormick sloppy Joe seasoning packet with tomato paste. It was the easiest, sugar free and best we have ever eaten.

I tried this recipe last night. I used Dijon mustard since it didnt specify and I used 1 Tablespoon of Swerve instead of 2 Tablespoons of erythritol and it came out amazing!!!!! My 12 year-old son had two helpings even though he has never really liked the canned Sloppy Joe we have tried in the past. I had put the cooked meat mixture in 3 little zero net carb Tortillas that I recently discovered made by Mission (found them at Target). Will definitely be making again!

Was very good. I left out the sweetener and additionally added 3/4 cup beef broth, 1/4 tsp onion powder and chili powder. Simmered to semisolid sauce consistency, not soupy. Had serving on 647 bread. Definitely in the rotation.

Delish…I omitted the sugar substitute. Made my own version of Worcestershire sauce with ketchup, mustard, balsamic vinegar, molasses (very little), lots of seasonings (chili powder, garlic powder, paprika, pink salt, pepper). I used the Arnold Keto thins.

Excellent! Added 1/2 cup chicken stock to make it saucier and a little onion powder and chili powder. Big hit

I used brown-sugar-type erythritol sweetener, only adding half the amount the recipe calls for. Also added a dash of onion powder and a few drops of liquid smoke for more of a barbecue flavor. We'll be having this often!

It’s pretty good. I’ve never used sugar though. Just ketchup bbq sauce & w.shire. And this might be nice n messy wrapped in a butter lettuce or kale😋

Great comfort meal! I made some adjustments - omitted the sugar, used regular ketchup, Dijon mustard and a dash of tamari (gluten-free). The dish was very tasty, rich and quick to make after a long day! This will definitely be in my recipe rotation, even my husband enjoyed it (he is very picky)

Why ketchup? Can I sub with tomato paste and water?
