Best Keto Chocolate Chip Mug Cookie

482 ratings

When you need a sugar fix, this mug cookie is the way to go. Browning the butter in a small pan prior to cooking this cookie in the microwave makes for the most delicious, comforting, satisfying cookie you could ever imagine. The resulting cake is so decadent and fudgy! The most wonderful part is it all can be made in one coffee mug. Be careful not to overcook this mug cake, 45 seconds is plenty of time.

Is browning the butter an essential step?

Browning the butter takes this Keto cookie recipe to another level by adding a nutty and caramelized flavor. This step is not essential, but it is absolutely recommended. The milk particles in the butter caramelize and release a deep and rich flavor. You can only achieve this flavor with butter, thus why you can't swap this ingredient for ghee, coconut oil, or cocoa butter.

Can you adapt this recipe to a nut-free diet?

Absolutely! The only nut in this Keto recipe is the almond flour. Swap the nut flour for sunflower seed flour or hemp flour.

How can you customize this Keto mug cookie?

This recipe is super versatile and can be customized to your liking. Try adding walnuts, macadamia, or Keto marshmallows. You can also replace the chocolate chips with milk or white chocolate chunks.

It's a tough one. It barely is sweet enough to satisfy you (there's other keto recipies that are tastier and sweeter), the portion is tiny compared to the calorie amount. I'd say if this was less calories then maybe it'd be worth remaking. But it just seems like a waste of calories, products and you can make better keto sweets for less calories. Pass

Pretty good! I wish I used the Lillys milk chocolate chips instead of the semisweet so that it was a bit sweeter. But other than that. I liked how easy it was to make and it satisfied my cookie craving.

Not a fan. Chewy and mealy. I basically picked out the chocolate chips.

Good and quick recipe for when desperate for a cookie. Remarkably quick. I’d recommend for a mid afternoon pick up treat with a cup of coffee

Very easy and quick to make. But I only had olive oil, put too much in the mug. So next time, much less. Made it soggy. Overall tasted awful. Far too much sugar. I will reduce down to maybe a teaspoon. I added pouring cream to deflect my errors, so made is slightly passable. So, will try again tomorrow

Is it the best cookie ever? No. Does it seem like the best cookie ever after month of nothing remotely sweet? Yes. This is not a gourmet cookie, but it's an amazing keto cookie, and thats what we're after. Its a bit mealy, as almond flour is. It can be a bit scrambled-eggy if you mix the yolk in while the butter is hot. But for what it is- a sweet treat when trying to lose fat- it's downright amazing.

I find almond flour to have a mealy texture. Some recipes exhibit this and others don’t. This recipe came out very mealy. Best part was the chocolate chips. Took 8 minutes to brown butter. Was surprised no baking powder or milk type liquid. I didn’t trust it to rise without the baking powder so added the 1/2 tsp that is usual in mug recipes. Still didn’t rise much. Will not make again.

I skipped browning the butter but it still came out great, added a little teaspoon of sugar free chocolate spread on top for some extra chocolatey goodness and it was amazing. Will definitely make again next time I've got a sweet craving!

Tried this for the first time. Sooo good! It tastes like a warm chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven. Very easy to make. Great for portion control as you only make a small serving at a time. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a sweet treat. Can also used Lilly’s peanut butter, butterscotch, or dark chocolate chips to mix it up!

Ok. Followed the recipe and they came out good. Second batch, I incorporated the butter, softened, off the counter, instead of browned, to the almond flour and sugar, added a dash of baking powder, then followed the recipe as written, WOW! Just like a cookie, will make again, and again and again this way.

I added a tablespoon of chopped pecans…so good it’s my daily snack. Does not taste eggy at all! I hate even the smell of eggs in a mix, but using real vainilla extract makes it sooooo goooood.
