Keto Tuna Melt Patties

108 ratings

Tuna melts are a delicious comfort food that are often underrated. This keto recipe turns a classic sandwich into a carb-less patty. You still get the tender tuna, melted cheddar cheese, and even an accompaniment of Special Sauce! Each bit is meaty, flavorful, cheesy, and a little tangy.

Recipe Steps

20 min

  • Step 1

Finely dice the pickles into small pieces, as you would see in a relish. In a bowl, combine the pickles with the first amount of mayo and the ketchup. Set this aside for later.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

In a new bowl, combine the tuna with the green onion, salt, pepper, garlic, and second amount of mayo.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

In a small skillet, heat half the olive oil over medium heat. Divide the tuna mix into two portions. Place the first portion of tuna in the hot oil and use a spatula to flatten and shape it into a patty.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Cook the patty for 1-2 minutes. Flip the patty, then sprinkle half the cheddar cheese over the top. You can put a lid over the skillet to help the cheese melt, cooking the other side of the patty for only another 1-2 minutes. You can adjust the heat to avoid burning.
    Step 4
  • Step 5

Repeat steps 4-5 for the second patty.
    Step 5
  • Step 6

Once the patties are cooked, you can serve them with the special sauce either on the side or directly on the patties. Enjoy!
    Step 6

Made with an egg white after reading reviews, turned out great. Really need a good non-stick pan and as previously mentioned it can be difficult to flip. Tastes really nice though and very filling.

I made a chaffle bread to go with it and with the sauce I thought it was very good. I also made a crispy grilled Lacey cheese in the waffle iron. I found that keeping it in the fridge for a couple of hours before frying it made a big difference as well as not flattening it out to much.

This was great! Used egg and it held together well. Didn’t do the sauce so I saved carbs there. Counted each whole ingredient so it was also less carbs total. Will definitely make this again very satisfying.

It was very tasty! I didn't have garlic powder but I had a garlic and herb seasoning, so I shouldn't have added the salt and pepper too. The patty would not stay in patty form and it stuck to pan no matter what I tried. Will add egg next time to see if that helps.

I added dill to the sauce. The patties were ok but hard to flip, maybe 4 smaller patties.. also maybe a dash of paprika or something to jazz up the tuna.

First time trying the recipe and I'm not too impressed the mixture in the bowl is too dry could do with adding an egg or something to the ingredients list Tastes good though

We loved these. Used two spatulas to flip. I didn’t add all of the salt. Hubby said add to the rotation! Add 4, he ate two, I ate one, and saved the extra for my lunch. He said he could have eaten at least three!

I’m sorry, is a serving of this 1 or 2 patties? I already ate them both, lol. They were delish but I was so stuffed I’m thinking I misunderstood.

Serving is 1 patty. Look at weight of your can of drained tuna therefore 1 patty equals 1 can tuna and recipe calls for two cans of tuna. Therefore 2 servings per batch. I would make into 4 patties so you would get 2 per serving and they would be easier to flip and get a bit crunchy.
