Keto Classic Waffles

70 ratings

There’s no way you have to miss out on waffles at breakfast time. These perfect Keto waffles are easy to make and even easier to eat! All you need is a whisk and a waffle maker. If you don’t own a waffle maker, you could cook the batter in a hot pan like a pancake. If you want a crispier waffle after cooking them, bake them in the oven for a few minutes at 350 F (180 C). You can meal prep these Keto waffles (just microwave them), but you’ll enjoy them most if they’re made fresh. Use your discretion to include any additional waffle toppings in your Keto food log.

Do I need coconut non-stick spray?

Coconut non-stick spray is recommended for the flavor as the spray-type. However, you don’t have to use coconut spray if it’s not on hand. Regular pan spray is absolutely fine to use on your waffle iron!

Ingredients to add to waffles

If there’s room to spare, add a few toppings to your waffles! If you like the sweeter side of life, add a handful of mixed berries. You could make Keto whipped cream to dollop on top, or you can buy sugar-free maple syrup. If you like savory waffles, try the Carb Manager Keto Hollandaise Sauce recipe.

Tips for your waffle maker

If you want a crispy outside and tender inside to your waffle, follow these tips. Make sure your waffle iron is at an even temperature (don’t add the batter too early). After the waffle cooks, leave it in your waffle maker while the waffle maker cools down. This leaves the outside sturdy but the inside decadent.

Recipe Steps

steps 6

25 min

  • Step 1

Combine the dry ingredients together in a mixing bowl. Briefly whisk them to combine the ingredients. You can also sift the dry ingredients together.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

In a separate bowl or container, mix together the wet ingredients. Whisk until smooth. Then, add the wet to the dry ingredients.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Whisk the ingredients together until the batter is smooth. In the meantime, prepare a waffle iron heat on hot. Keep in mind the waffle will need to rest in the hot iron as it cools so you may want to choose a setting that is slightly lower than needed to allow it to finish cooking once the iron is off.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Spray your waffle iron well with coconut non-stick spray. Add ¼ of the batter to the iron. Set the iron and follow the iron’s directions for cooking.
    Step 4
  • Step 5

Once cooked, turn off the iron or unplug it and allow the iron to cool for at least 3-4 minutes. Gently open the waffle iron. Use a spatula to start removing the top part of the waffle from the iron to release it.
    Step 5
  • Step 6

Remove the waffle and begin to heat the iron for the next waffle, making sure the iron is hot before adding the next round of batter after spraying it again with non-stick spray. Repeat the cooking process for the remaining waffles. Serve with butter or sugar-free maple-flavored syrup!
    Step 6

I tried it as a waffle in my waffle maker and it just collapsed. I then tried cooking it as a pancake but it too collapsed. The recipe is horrible. It doesn't stay together. Try better.

This was a recipe I think we can improve to make great. Next time I will try adding about 1/c melted butter (to prevent sticking) and 1/4tsp baking soda for browning. 3.5oz is both sides of my waffle iron (2 pc) so this is a real treat for breakfast!

I used a mini waffle iron sprayed with oil for every waffle and let cool for 4 minutes and they came out great

Well, I just wasted a bunch of expensive ingredients 😩 first attempt, they didn’t expand in the waffle maker and stuck to it. Even with oil sprayed. Second attempt, I used the frying pan and it still didn’t work. Maybe less milk next time. Not sure.

i had the same issue see if you can find a smaller waffle maker and add less of the ingredients it should work. Also butter each side of the plates before adding ( good luck)

Was surprised how well these turned out. Any baking I’ve done in the past using almond flour left me disappointed. This was pretty good. And easy to keep frozen in the fridge for a quick snack on the run in the morning.

Love the flavor, but waffles stuck so bad on first try I couldn’t salvage it, then second was very dry (ate it anyway 😉) I made the rest into pancakes and they turned out pretty good. I prefer waffles so will try again with mini waffle iron.

Half a waffle is two sections of a large four section waffle from a large waffle maker

After reading everyone's comments, reduced the almond milk to 1 cup, put 1/2 cup melted butter .sprayed waffle iron with coconut oil pan, after waffle iron timed out, cooked for 4 minutes longer. I got 8 perfectly browned and delicious waffles. I also recalculated the carbs based on my ingredients and it only comes out to 2.6 net carbs per waffle. Great recipe with some minor tweaking.

I followed your modifications and used 1/2 cup coconut oil instead of butter. also added almond extract. Turned out fantastic! Thank you for the adjustments!

These came out great, used whole milk because I didn't have almond milk. The batter was a little thin so made more and I will freeze. Also added 2 Tablespoons of olive oil to the batter. I also used avocado oil spray on my waffle iron. Not sticking and they were very tasty!

These came out amazing, I read the comments and used 2 Tbsp of Oil and sprayed the waffle iron with oil too. Used unsweetened ready to drink Soy Milk instead of Almond milk, it came out exactly as the photo. Will be making them again.

I followed the recipe and used non stick spray on the iron and it turned out great. kept them in the fridge in an airtight container and ate them as a "bread" for breakfast for two weeks. Great recipe!!!

Did NOT work. I followed the recipe exactly because I hate when people change up a recipe and then say it didn’t work out. The first waffle stuck horribly to my waffle iron. So then I tried adding some coconut oil to the batter and got the same result. I even tasted what I scraped out of the waffle maker and unfortunately the taste was awful. Such a waste of time and money.

Did you unplug your iron and wait the 3 -4 minutes prior to removing the waffle?, I had the same problem until I did that

Nice easy recipe - mixture a little too liquid-y so I add mozzarella cheese on the bottom of the waffle maker before pouring the mixture and got the results exactly in the photo

This recipe is missing fat to hold it together. 1st time around the waffles were awful. 2nd time I added 1/2 cup melted butter. Still very light but THEY HELD TOGETHER.

I think the recipes has too much baking powder. Lost most of the batter by over spill and their a bit too light. For 4 net carbs per waffle I want to feel satiated. Taste is fine though

That is the weight of the whole waffle!! Should the serving weight be 1.75 oz or 50 grams? Thank you for this excellent recipe!!!!

It was terrible. I did get them to come out of the waffle maker as a waffle but the after taste is horrid. Not going to do it again. But my husband and I braved through the meal.
