Keto Crispy Prosciutto Mozzarella Sticks

These crispy mozzarella sticks can be enjoyed by adults or kids, Keto or not! Who doesn’t love gooey, cheesy mozzarella sticks? Simply replace the breading with a Keto-friendly piece of prosciutto. The prosciutto adds just the right amount of salt and bakes to a crisp in your oven. It is also durable enough to keep your melted cheese encased inside its crispy exterior. Just like a regular mozzarella stick, each piece has a crisp bite followed by hot melted cheese! At your discretion, you can include a Keto marinara sauce for dipping. The nutrition information you see available is for just 1 mozzarella stick. The most appropriate serving size would be 2-3 mozzarella sticks per person.

What If I Don’t Have String Cheese?

Most string cheese is made from a mild, whole milk white cheese that is very easy to substitute. Depending on where you reside, “string cheese” may not be available to you. If you live outside the U.S. or simply would prefer to use an authentic cheese, you can use your preferred brand of mozzarella or provolone cheese. For this Keto recipe, you’ll need to slice any store-bought cheese into 3x1” sticks before making the mozzarella sticks. If you live within the U.S., make sure to select a brand that is 100% real cheese. There’s no promise that other brands will melt properly in your oven!

Is This Good For Meal Prepping?

These Keto mozzarella sticks make an excellent snack that’s easy to take with you to work or anywhere else you bring your meal prep containers. You can even include the mozzarella sticks as a side dish to a main meal, like a protein or salad. Let the mozzarella sticks fully cool before storing them in meal prep containers. You can easily microwave them when you’re ready to eat. Otherwise, just keep them in your refrigerator. You can microwave 2-3 pieces whenever you want a Keto snack to help you survive until dinner time or as a high-fat pre-workout.

  • Step 1

Preheat an oven to 350 degrees and line a sheet tray with parchment paper. Unwrap the string cheese and cut each piece into 2 short halves. If you don’t have string cheese, you can refer to the introduction for substitutes you can use. Remove the lining from your thin slices of prosciutto and lay them out flat on a clean surface.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

One by one, roll each small piece of string cheese in a slice of prosciutto. Lay the prosciutto horizontally in front of you. Place a piece of string cheese on the left side and fold the prosciutto over the cheese. Then, roll up the prosciutto until the whole slice is rolled around the cheese. To keep the cheese from melting outside the ends, fold the ends of the prosciutto under the rolls.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Place the rolled prosciutto mozzarella sticks on your sheet tray. Bake the mozzarella sticks for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the prosciutto is crispy and browned. You can pat away any excess grease with a paper towel. Let the mozzarella stick cool for 1-2 minutes before eating. Store leftover mozzarella sticks in an airtight container in your refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Not worth the 20 minutes wait. Prosciutto and cheese are good by themselves no need to overcomplicate them
