Low Carb Crispy Brussel Sprouts with Bacon

29 ratings

Maybe you weren’t a fan of brussel sprouts as a child, but this recipe is perfectly good for adults and kids alike! These sprouts are baked at a high heat to have a super crispy outside and a tender, chewy inside. Simply seasoned, and tossed with bacon, each bite is a little salty, a little smokey, and have just a touch of citrus!

Each Brussels sprout weighs 10grams so you can have 7.

For air fryer fans, this is a must-try! In a mixing bowl, put brussel sprouts halves, cut 1/8” pieces of bacon, drizzle with olive oil, salt and pepper to taste, Toss it, put in the air fryer basket, and airfry on 390 for about 8-10 minutes!

Brussel Sprouts and bacon has long been a favorite at our house. We cook the bacon in the oven on parchment on a cookie sheet. Remove bacon and pour off grease. Place halved sprouts on the same sheet and drizzle with bacon grease. Return to oven for a much shorter time than this recipe lists, about 25 min. Flavor is outstanding and helps us get to our Fat goals as well as keep Carbs low.

I used ghee, instead of olive oil. I didn't bother with the bacon (but if I had I would have cooked it in the oven for 15 minutes, instead of frying it, to save work). But, I agree, fabulous way to cook brussel sprouts.

Sometimes I add some chicken stock while I’m cooking the Brussels then add the crispy bacon at the end. Mmmmm

I’ve cooking bacon and Brussels sprouts together for years but I cut them in half and cook them in a cast iron skillet. Sometimes I add a carrot sliced thinly like coins for color and vitamin A. I live alone think it a waste of energy to heat the oven for one serving. Also, I think you have more control in the cooking time. If they start to brown too much before cooking through I add a tablespoon of water and cover tightly for a couple of minutes.

Cut the sprouts in 1/2 or even thirds. Chop the bacon up and cook it with the brussels sprouts!

Would have been tasty but definitely reduce the cooking time, wish I read the reviews before I made this dish, way over cooked and mushy burnt and I took it out 15 minutes early!

Love the recipe but I think that 20-25 minutes are plenty of time. I do them all the Time! They can be halved too. It helps with browning! Otherwise yum!

Maybe depends on the size of the Brussels sprouts but mine were really over cooked to mush inside. Seasoned well.
