Keto Maple Bacon And Pecan Butter

This easy Keto compound butter is packed with flavor and fats from crispy bacon, crunchy toasted pecans, and sweet maple-flavored syrup. Our Keto bacon butter is simple to make and, once prepared, just requires setting and firming time in the fridge. Perfect served over low carb pancakes or slathered over Keto toast.

What Is Compound Butter?

Compound butter is a combination of softened butter with an array of flavorings and seasonings. The butters can be sweet and may include things such as chopped nuts, chocolate, and dried fruits or savory, including add-ins such as herbs and spices, cheeses, or meats. Once combined with the flavorings, the butter is chilled in the fridge until ready to use as a topping or seasoning for your preferred Keto meals.

Can I Use an Alternative Sweetener

We have used a low carb maple-flavored syrup to complement the bacon and pecans. However, if preferred, you may omit the sweetener entirely or use your preferred low carb sweetener. For this recipe, a powdered or liquid sweetener would work best. Please be sure to adjust the sweetness to taste and amend your macros to account for any changes made to the recipe.

  • Step 1

Bring the butter to room temperature so that it is soft and easy to mash. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over a medium heat. Add the bacon slices and cook through until crisp and golden. Remove from the skillet with a slotted spoon. Transfer to a plate to cool completely. Once cooled, crumble or chop the bacon into small pieces.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

While the bacon is cooking, add the chopped pecans to a dry skillet over a low heat. Toast the pecans for 2-3 minutes until warm and fragrant. Take care not to overcook as these will burn quickly. Set aside to cool completely.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Add the softened butter to a mixing bowl. Mash with a fork briefly. Add the cooled bacon pieces and toasted pecans. Drizzle over the lakanto syrup. You may also add a touch of salt and pepper if desired to taste.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Mash the butter, pecans, bacon, and syrup together. Make sure the flavorings are distributed evenly throughout the butter. You can taste the butter mix and adjust seasoning/sweetness as needed.
    Step 4
  • Step 5

Scoop the butter out from the bowl onto a square of baking paper or plastic wrap. Roughly mold the butter into a log shape with your hands. Wrap the paper/plastic wrap tightly up around the butter, securing the ends. Transfer to the fridge for up to 2 hours to firm. Once set, you can slice and serve as desired.
