Keto Swedish Meatball Gravy Dip

Is it gravy? Is it dip? It’s kind of both! Imagine breaking up your grandmother’s Swedish meatballs into a pan and coating them in a seasoned brown gravy sauce. Yum! Enjoy as a gravy over Carb Manager mashed potatoes or your favorite vegetable side, or you can dip any of the Carb Manager keto breads as if they were biscuits.

This recipe makes about 12 fl oz of gravy dip, but it may be best to measure your serving portions by weight for the most accurate nutrition.

  • Step 1

In a pan, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder, allspice, nutmeg, and thyme. Cook on a medium-high heat while breaking up the ground beef with a spoon or spatula into crumbly pieces. Place a lid on the pan and cook on a lower heat for 1-2 minutes to allow some liquid to collect.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Once the ground beef is cooked through, deglaze the pan with the butter and worcestershire. Then, pour in the beef broth. Stir the ingredients together.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Return the lid to the pan and cook on a low simmer for at least 10 minutes. You may go longer for more tender beef and a stronger broth flavor.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Remove the lid. With the heat on very low, whisk in the sour cream. Stir over low heat until the sour cream and liquid broth emulsify. The liquid should reduce some as well. Then, whisk in the mozzarella cheese in 3-4 additions until all the cheese is melted in the gravy.
    Step 4
  • Step 5

All the pan of gravy dip to cool off the heat to thicken for the final time. Serve warm!

I left the beef out and already had the Swedish meatballs prepared. The taste of the dip is excellent! I don't think I got the consistency quite right but such a great flavor!!! Yum!
