Ingredients
Bacon
5 medium slice
Kale
3 ounce
Salt
¼ teaspoon
Black Pepper
½ tsp
Recipe Steps

15 min
Step 1
Lay the strips of bacon down in a wide pot (a pot will be best for holding the kale later) on high heat. Cook the bacon through until very crispy. Then, set aside to cool.Step 2
Leave the bacon grease in the pot and turn the heat down to a medium-low. Chop your kale if it’s not chopped already, and place it in the pot. Cook the kale down until it’s very wilted and retaining crispy edges - about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.Step 3
Chop the cooled bacon into bits and stir it into the crispy kale. Serve warm with your main dish.

Omg, this was salty. If I make this again I am omitting the salt.

The bacon makes the Kale palatable. This is extremely quick and easy. I thought this dish was just so-so when it comes to flavor. If you like Kale this dish will probably be a hit, if not, probably not.

This was absolutely fantastic. Was going to share with my husband but decided to keep the second portion for my lunch the next day! Definitely on my side salad rotation.

Can I make this with spinach
recipewriter 5 years ago
Yes, but you may wish to add more spinach as you cook since it wilts down so much.

I am confused as to what 3/4 servings means. Can somebody explain please? Is it 3/4 of what the recipe yields which is three servings? Or is it 3/4 of one serving? Does the pie represent one serving, or the three servings that the recipe yields? I’m so confused!

The pie chart at the top of the recipe will always reflect the macros for 1 serving, unless you adjust it manually. The original recipe posted here makes 2 full servings (no fractions).

Very easy. I actually put garlic powder in and eat as a meal.

Is the weight of the bacon given in the recipe raw or cooked? 40 grams would appear to be the cooked weight of 5 strips.
recipewriter 5 years ago
Carb Manager has an automatic function that determines the cooked weight of a product (often what you see in the parenthesis in the ingredient list). You'll have the most accurate results if you follow the weights/amounts listed that are not in the small parenthesis. In this case, it's best to follow listed amount of strips of bacon instead of cooked weight. Hope this helps!

This was delicious. I added roasted garlic for some more flavor since I pre-made my crispy bacon. Thanks!

This was yum. I added some cream cheese, just so hubby would eat it. He really enjoyed the kale, which he says he hates. Thank you.
