Keto Green Beans with Crispy Red Onions
These simple green beans are sautéed with sweet red onion and aromatic garlic until tender.

Ingredients
- Green Beans (string Beans), Raw - 5 ounce 
- Olive Oil - 2 tablespoon 
- Garlic - 1 clove 
- Red Onion - ½ small

- Step 1 Thinly slice the red onion. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over a medium heat. Add the onion and sweat for a minute until just tender. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook the onions until golden and starting to caramelize.
- Step 2 Whilst the onions are cooking, add the green beans to a pan of boiling water and simmer for 4-5 minutes until just tender. Drain completely.
- Step 3 Once the onion is golden, crush the garlic and add to the pan with the remaining oil. Sweat gently until tender and the onion starts to crisp.
- Step 4 Add the beans to the skillet and toss in the garlic, onion and oil, cooking for a minute or two until heated through.

Can you use canned green beans?

I added a pinch of bicarbonate, for the green beans to get soft quicker.

Green beans need to be cooked a little bit longer in my opinion.
