Best Keto Mug Biscuit
Are you the type of person that likes a biscuit or bagel at their side for breakfast? That is not lost on the Keto diet! This highly-rated easy Keto breakfast recipe can become a staple. The good news is you can make this mug biscuit in less than 5 minutes. All you have to do is smear some butter across your biscuit while it’s still warm to enjoy it. This mug biscuit would taste great on the side with some scrambled eggs or a baked avocado. You can let other users know in the comment section how you like to enjoy your Keto mug biscuit in the mornings.
Things to smear on your biscuit
If a smear of butter is too plain for you, try smearing a nut butter or sugar-free jam on your mug biscuit. Peanut butter, almond butter, or ground cashews can all be spread on the mug biscuit. If you want to use a jam, opt for strawberry or blueberry jam for the least amount of carbs.
What is ‘sugar-free’?
You can’t have just any ‘sugar-free’ item on the shelves when on the Keto diet. Some sugar alternatives still trigger an insulin response in the body, which can potentially lead to health problems like diabetes. Look for sugar-free foods made with stevia, which can be consumed on the Keto diet.
Coconut flour alternatives
If you can’t have coconut flour, you can substitute it with more almond flour. You can also substitute coconut flour with ground flax seeds. If you do omit the coconut flour, expect to have a slightly less fluffy texture.

Raw egg

Recipe Steps
steps 3

Step 1
Combine all of the dry ingredients together. You can combine them in your mug right away or mix them first in a separate mixing bowl. Add in an egg and avocado oil, then stir the ingredients to combine.Step 2
Microwave your mug on high heat for 1 minute. You’ll know the mug biscuit is done when it looks puffed up and slightly darker around the edges. You can gently press down on the biscuit and feel that it’s done as well.Step 3
If you need to microwave the mug biscuit for longer, then do so. Once it cools for a minute, you can slip it out of the mug and slice. Smear a pat of butter on the mug biscuit as a Keto-friendly topping.

Sounds delicious however is there an oven version. I typically avoid using microwave for food items... thanks for any feedback

If you live at altitude, be sure your mug is large enough. I used a standard 10oz size, and the biscuit threatened to punch through the top of the microwave. I popped the split biscuit under the broiler for a minute or so, and that crisped it nicely. Large smear of Irish butter, and I had a tasty breakfast. Oh, and a biscuit with sugar (!!!!!) is a scone. I married a Southern boy. No sugar in the biscuits or the cornbread! Sugar goes in the ice tea.

agree about the sugar...in the sweet tea only ..

Little dry, but not terrible. Totally worked for my keto friendly crustless chicken pot pie. 😋

Great idea for potatoes pie!

Much prefer without the coconut flour. It is quite noticeable in the texture. I love coconut but not in my biscuits.

Definitely need to put butter on these. They're super dry.

I just made this! I didn’t have Avacado oil so I substituted an herb infused olive oil which gave it an Italian bread taste. I’m going to be making this often! Someone give me a keto gravy so I can have biscuits and gravy 😭😭

Take 1 1/2 cups of heavy cream and heat it. Stir in 8 oz of cream cheese. Season with 1/2 tsp of garlic and onion powder and salt and pepper to taste. Very rich and delicious.

Is there a substitute for almond flour? Anaphylactic shock.
FortuitousRadish884225 6 months ago
You can grind sunflower seeds.
FantasticArugula781358 8 months ago
Anaphylactic shock is extremely serious. I’m wondering if you should avoid nuts, especially almonds. Please consult with your doctor.

There is organic coconut flour available. I'm sorry if that is still something you're allergic to.

Made it three times this weekend alone. Followed recipe exact. Including the sweetener, which I couldn’t get a strong sweet taste. Really enjoy it.

Four days in to Keto and my expectations for this recipe were not high, lol. It was delicious! In the future I will not use the sweetener unless I’m using it as a “sweet treat”. So good!

Used everything but the sugar. My mama said that you don't eat sweet biscuits in the South lol. But it turned out great!

Clearly, your Mama’s a smart woman! Mine says the same!

This was really good, I will make this more often but I made some adjustments. Put about 1/2 t of everything seasoning, eliminated sweetener altogether. It's a little salty for my liking but I'm not a huge salt person so I will cut that down a little. Didn't use coconut flour at all and just used 4 T of Almond Flour. Really god any worth you trying it out.

Ewww maybe it’s because I’m privy to delicious homemade biscuits, but after one bite I could not. It was too dry and nearly choked me. Maybe I cooked it too long, but not a fan for this replacement.

It’s because I’m from Alabama.

The recipe says “If you can’t have coconut flour, you can substitute it with more coconut flour.” What should the substitution really be.
Lori 9 months ago
Do more almond flour.

I just used all Almond flour. I was actually surprised how good it was.

While this is not Poppin' fresh quality, it's a fine Keto substitute. I've made individual zip lock baggies of the dry ingredients to just pull from the pantry and add the egg and oil. I left out the sugar, and this morning I even substituted heavy cream for the oil. Wonderful idea! And I find that half of it is plenty along with a couple of eggs.

Just made this and thought it was really good. So, I replaced the coconut flour with almond flour, in other words a total of 4 tablespoons almond flour. I replaced erythritol with Wholesum Yum Besti Monkfruit Allulose Powdered Blend (no erythritol) and finally I used olive oil, not avocado oil. Mine had subtle sweetness from the Besti product which I like... I put a little peanut butter on one slice and yummy. Then butter on the other slice - made me happy. 😁. I'm sure you could modify this recipe to a variety of "biscuits".
