Keto Philly Cheesesteak Skillet
Nothing shouts “comfort food” like a fat, meaty, melty Philly Cheesesteak. We may have to skip out on the bread, but we don’t have to skip on the juicy steak and gooey cheese! This one-skillet meal makes for an easy lunch or dinner, and it will warm your belly right up. If you don’t own a cast iron skillet or oven-safe skillet, you can prepare the veggies and steak in a stovetop pan and then transfer the ingredients to a baking dish.

Ingredients
Flank Steak
1 pound
Olive Oil
1-½ tablespoon
Salt
½ teaspoon
Black Pepper
1 tsp
Spices Onion Powder
½ tsp
Spices Garlic Powder
¼ tsp
White Mushrooms
3 ounce
Green Bell Pepper
2-¼ ounce
Provolone Cheese
6 slice
Recipe Steps
steps 7
35 min
Step 1
On a clean surface, slice your steak into 4-inch strips that are an 1/8 inch thick. Heat your olive oil in a skillet on medium-high heat, and add in the steak. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder over the steak.Step 2
Brown the meat. Then, turn the heat to high and cook until the steak gets a crispy outside. This cooking process takes about 12 minutes.Step 3
Transfer the cooked steak to a dish until later use. Leave all juices in the pan. Turn the heat down to medium low. Slice the mushrooms thin and dice the green bell pepper, and add these to the skillet.Step 4
Cook the vegetables for about 3 minutes, or until they are just cooked through. Remove the skillet from the heat.Step 5
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees. Return the cooked steak to the skillet, and mix the meat and veggies together. If you do not own an oven-safe skillet, combine the cooked ingredients in a baking dish that has been sprayed.Step 6
Slice the provolone cheese, if it is not already in slices. Arrange the cheese over the top of the cheesesteak ingredients so everything is covered. Bake the ingredients in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese melts.Step 7
To get a slightly browned top, cook the skillet under a broiler for an additional 3-4 minutes before serving.

My flank steak was not cut as thinly as your recipe requires, so it merely turned grizzly and tough when I was finished the 12 minutes of frying it.... So I put it in a casserole dish with the lid on for 2 and 1/2 hours at 300°F and the meat was finally tender, juicy and the veggies had marinated nicely. Drained off some of the fluid, added 1/2 cup phili cheese and then popped it back in the oven with the provolone under broil. Added onion and fresh garlic when cooking the meat. Also added Worcestershire sauce,a Tbsp of apple cider vinegar (nod to Jenn Segal), oregano, sweet paprika and a couple of bayleaf too. Spruced up the taste!

Added fresh garlic during the browning of the steak and onion to the vegetables. Very good.

Made with ground meat. I also didn’t have provolone so I substituted cheddar, added onions and some harissa sauce for kick. VERY good. Will make again; and that’s from a #PhillyGirl

Just curious if anyone has tried this with ground beef or venison strip steak?

Great idea! I’m looking for recipes I can make for 20-30 people, and this one with ground beef would be perfect!

I added 2 ounces of cream cheese before I put the skillet in the oven. It was a tasty filling dish!

We added shredded Parmesan half a block of cream cheese and about 1/4 - 1/2 cup of heavy cream until consistency was where we wanted! Came out great

Tasty and quick! I added mayonnaise before popping it in the oven, which added a nice gravy coating over all the goodies!

This is really nice! And so quick and easy to make. Started with keto just over a week ago, and already had this twice! Hubby (not on keto) really liked it as well.

Made this with the Aldi shaved steak and toasted Aldi Keto bread to have a sandwich. I made extra to freeze and pull out for a quick lunch or dinner in the future.

Perfect quick supper for a busy day of errands. Husband enjoyed it, too. Asked to add it to rotation of recipes! That says something =}. as he’s anti Ketogenic diet… for now.

I loved this, it was seasoned just perfectly. I edited the recipe and used Steak-Ems. I ate it as is and my family ate it on cheese steak rolls.

Fantastic for both keto and non- keto people! We are big cheesesteak fans here! This hit the spot!

Due to some in my house not eating peppers, I had to keep that part separate. But it was tasty in the end. Decided next time we would like a cheesy sauce instead of just cheese melted on top. Will make again.
