Keto Italian Beef With Cabbage Noodles

1880 ratings

This meal is a gut-filling crowd pleaser! The thinly sliced cabbage acts like “noodles” in this hearty Italian meat sauce. It requires only a little prep work, and is finished within about 30 minutes so there’s no need to slave over the stove for hours! The recipe yields 8 servings which may sound like a lot, but this dish is great to meal prep to keep in the fridge and freezer for future meals!

Recipe Steps

30 min

  • Step 1

Heat olive oil in a large pan or pot over medium heat. Once hot, add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula or spoon.
    Step 1
  • Step 2

Add the garlic, salt, italian seasoning and basil to the meat. Once it is about halfway to being fully cooked, add in the jar of Rao’s sauce. Bring to a boil and reduce the heat to medium-low.
    Step 2
  • Step 3

Thinly slice the cabbage, add it to the beef, and toss with a pair of tongs. Once the cabbage is somewhat coated in the tomato and beef mixture, reduce the heat to medium-low and mostly cover the pan with a lid, just leaving a small crack for heat to escape and reduce. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 7-10 minutes, or until the cabbage softens.
    Step 3
  • Step 4

Allow the mixture to simmer for about 7-10 minutes, or until the cabbage softens. Remove the lid from the pan and allow to cook for a few more minutes to evaporate any liquid that was released from the cabbage. Top with chopped basil and serve!

This is so delicious. I’ve made it a few times and this last time I sautéed the cabbage in 1 TBSP of olive oil & 1 TBSP of butter with salt and pepper and I found it to be a game changer. I start the cabbage first in a different pan while preparing the ground beef. The cabbage was much softer. I didn’t use the 2 TBSP of olive oil in the rest of the recipe since I used the fat in the cabbage. We love this recipe with a side salad. It is full of flavour and something we look forward too 😃

Easy to make and delicious even without the garlic. I also added a bag of mixed frozen vegetables. Don’t bash me. I can’t eat garlic as it causes migraines for me.

Good. Next time Im going to try half ground beef and half italian sausage. Im also going to add a diced tomatoes for more tomato flavor and just a little bit of Stevia to make it less bitter.

This is the first recipe I made as part of a new low carb journey, and it was quick, easy, and pretty tasty!! I did add more seasoning than what was called for and used a leaner beef.

I was worried that the cabbage would get soggy but it held up well and Roa’s is very favorable especially when you and more garlic and Italian spices. Plus easy, one pot prep!

We were pleasantly surprised by how easy this is and how much we like it. Carbs and fats are relatively low, so I think this would work for most anyone. Top it with Parmesan, diced tomatoes, avocado, to spruce it up. Hubby loved it, and that’s not always the case when I foist cabbage on him.

I made this and haven't tried it yet. But, I'm wondering why this is an appropriate receipe when one serving takes one WAY over the fat allotment for any one meal?

Did you calculate it wrong? One serving is 24g fat. Less than a quarter of my daily allotment.

Delicious! A simple recipe with few ingredients and I was surprised it was as good as it was. My favorite recipe so far - whipped up a batch and had 8 meals ready to reheat.
